Since you’re reading the page labeled “About Me”, let me tell you a bit about myself. I hail from sunny Phoenix, Arizona. By day (some nights and weekends, too), I am a nurse anesthetist. Nope, I don’t do eyebrows (common confusion). To keep it simple, I put folks to sleep for surgery. As you may have guessed, I love to travel! It’s hands down my favorite thing to do (luckily, my husband enjoys it, too!). My next favorite thing to do is share experiences with fellow travelers:)
Why start a blog? A few reasons. As I mentioned above, I love sharing my travel experiences with others and love hearing about theirs in return. I am frequently asked for my itinerary, opinions, and advice, which I am all too happy to share! Having 25 countries (including 2 US territories, 3 countries as solo) and extensive US travels under my belt means I have a tidbit or two to share. What better way to tell all I know than a blog? Blogs have been so helpful to me in my own itinerary brainstorming, why not return the favor?
I know, there are a lot of travel bloggers out there. And many (probably more than not) travel full time or at least part-time. And that is amazing! However, that simply isn’t possible for me or probably for the majority of people, for that matter. I want to show you that you can still explore the world even if you can’t travel full-time or manage to work remotely. It may take us longer to see the world, but we can still have meaningful experiences in the short time we have to enjoy a destination.
How did I pick the name, “The Gadabout”? I have a serious obsession with English words that are no longer commonly used. When I found “gadabout” during a thesaurus search and read the definition, I felt like it was a match made in heaven.
What’s the “Everyday” section about? This is where I get to be a bit more creative and just share whatever random thing happens to tickle my fancy at the moment. Whether it’s our recent home remodel, raising chickens (coming soon), a recipe, home design, or fashion/beauty, you will find my thoughts on it here. I am seriously all over the map with what interests me, so this is sure to be an eclectic compilation of posts.
